Pixelated Journey
Pixelated Journey is a series of paintings exploring our perceptions of the world, how we record it and what we remember of the experience.
Generally based in landscape and landscape experience.
The aesthetics of the paintings are the tonal qualities of pixels that sit together in a photograph of a day out or a view on a journey. Once you enlarge the image enough it becomes pixelated and a tonal abstract of the original.
The paintings are not faithful representations of any blown up photograph but are abstract notions of a wider image. What the image would be is for the viewer to know or understand.
Often it is a photograph that reminds us of an event and without it we would not remember or we would remember an abstract part of something not totally visible to us.
The paintings represent this ambiguous memory.
