Out and About Inspirations

Old and New Graffiti.
Started some plein air painting in Kenilworth. Lovely little town, very small and quiet, perfect for me, a beginner in plein air. The castle is owned or looked after by English Heritage. I wandered about looking for something other than the touristy pic and found some abstract stonework that has been been eroded by the winds and become sculptured forms.
Etched grafitti on the walls. Fabulous textures created. You find yourself there, trying to read them all. Some are worn away so unreadable but the really old and the new together question time, its fleeting nature and the relative temporary aspect of people.
Great graffiti going up under the arches in Floodgate Street, Digbeth. Its like graffiti city down there. Last year I did a graffiti tour of the area and got to do that this year too! #OnlyInDigbeth

Painting Progress

Some initial layers are going down in oil paint. I am working on some small pieces alongside some larger ones. I have an idea to do with perception and colour. We will see how it pans out.I want a painterly feel but a process always creeps in. Marrying both would be interesting.

Painting Archive

Art and Artists

@ The BM&AG - Anwar Jalal Shamza
Some fantastic work up at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. This is where the design ideas for the Library Of Birmingham came from. Artist Anwar Jalal Shemza 1928-1985 and his 'The Wall' painting. Love this painting depicting pattern.
